Draw the image you want to appear on your print onto the print block (remember image will appear the reverse of what you draw when printed).

Gently carve away all areas you want to appear white in the final print.

Roll the brayer through the ink until you get a thin even coat of ink on the brayer.

Center the paper over the print.

With the back of a wooden spoon, press the paper fully against the block to ensure complete contact (don’t forget the corners).

When done, carefully peel the paper back to see what you’ve got. If you see you need to do a little more carving, do it and make another proof to make sure it looks the way you want before beginning your good prints.
