1.C. Value & Line Design:
'Camo' Your Favorite Reptile

(Time: 1.5 hrs.)

In your sketchbook, make a simple line drawing the shape of your favorite reptile, then draw a few lines crisscrossing it and the whole paper like the image above. Now you can relax and just shade the different sections in: imagining the light source coming from one corner and making the section gradually go from light to dark from one side to the other. Take a close look at the example above to see how to create a gradation of value in each section.
Take care to look at the sections already shaded beside the one you are working on & ensure that light areas are set against dark areas. Your reptile will be camoflaged against the crisscross background & you will end up with a very interesting effect & a tres cool design.

Submitting Your Work

Upload your drawing, 'Camo Reptile' image below by scanning or taking a picture of it. (Ensure image is compressed to 100 KB or less.) Then in the Draft submission section click = . A browse window will open up. Find the file you saved, select it and click course_material/common_files/uploadButton.gif.

Once you have uploaded your drawing, click the = button.
