Portfolio Project 4.A.‘What Do You Love?’ Poster

You are going to be asked to do an experiment. Draw a picture of yourself, with all that you love, forming and possibly spilling out of the top of your head. See what shows up. It can be part collage with at least half of it pencil drawing. You can use part of a picture of yourself and cut out or draw words or images of what you love filling and spilling, like a fountain, out from your brain.
(Time: 2 hrs.) Materials 1.5’ x 2’ (aprox.) piece of white Mayfair paper Steps to Making Poster (click on the photo to view the full size image.) Journal Response: Enter your Journal Response in the Notes section. Click the 1.) What kinds of things showed up as you thought about what you love? (2) 2.) If you could invent one word to describe the nature of many of those things, what would that be? (Ex. ‘adrenaliney,’ ‘peacelovefriendy,’ ‘freeflying,’ ‘glamafuzz…’) Write a definition to the word you just created. (4) (*This could work as the title to this artpiece.) 3.) What does this tell you about yourself and what you value? (2) 4.) Were you able to translate the idea of something you love into a structure or shape that made up part of the skull bones? 5.) What idea became what shape? (2) In doing this project, I realized… (name one thing you realized or learned about yourself that surprised you).
